Playtime Is Over

The devastating demolition of Battersea Park Adventure Playground went ahead today despite nearly 9 out of 10 parents and carers being against it.
We protested through the closure of the park with the support of Occupy London, Play England, London Play, Fair Play For Children, Wandsworth Against cuts and even a few celebrities too.

The council ignored it’s people, were selfish, spread lies, and are still making a mockery of what we have left for the younger generations.

A huge thank you and respect to all the protestors who stood up for the children in protecting their playground. You set the best example in showing how to fight fairly and with passion for something and braved the cold and snow! Even when evicted, you still stood by the gate and stood your ground to support the voices that Wandsworth refused to listen to.

Unfortunately it doesn’t stop here. The playground for the older children is being ripped apart. Now, the One O Clock club for children aged 0 – 4 years is in discussions about being shut. Not just this one, but six in the surrounding area.

This is absolutely outrageous. There will be nothing left for the children soon enough.

Wandsworth Council should be ashamed of themselves. They are destroying the children’s childhoods.
